Dialects: Cienega de Zacapu, Cuanajo, Ihuatzio, Isla Janitzio, Puacuaro, San Jeronimo. All Purépecha varieties have functional intelligibility of other Purépecha varieties; Eastern varieties have 60%–80% intelligibility of the Western. A standard variety is emerging through radio and literature.
